My dearest gentle reader,
Here is a little back story about my roots and how I got here! I come from an Irish and Sicilian family with a lot of heightened intuition on both sides. I would often hear phrases like “she had a premonition” growing up. When I was in my early twenties I started having my own premonitions! 😉
One of my strongest intuitive moments happened years ago when I was attending a friend’s wedding. It took place at this charming farm to table restaurant that had this magic unlike anything I had ever seen! It was early October, and all of the decor was very whimsical and rustic. The food presentation was this cornucopia level abundance of meats and cheeses. While the experience was already so memorable, the very thing that really stuck with me was the catering team and their manager. There was an unquestionable spirit and soul to the entire operation. The woman who was leading the whole service was a bright light. Quiet but poised, confident, and obviously loved what she was doing. There were many mannerisms about her that reminded me of me… or what I visualized I could become in the future. I instantly felt a strong connection!
That experience changed my life. Call it a cheese board premonition if you will! I always loved cooking and hosting guests. In that moment I understood I had to part ways with my traditional life and go on a different path. The restaurant this all took place in was called Spice, and sure enough on my new path a few years later I started working there.
At Spice Catering, I’ve had the opportunity to observe years of women thriving in leadership positions throughout the company. (Any of the Spice Catering women could easily very functionally run our country.) I learned about teamwork, the ins and outs of catering, and how to make your guests experience as memorable and magical as my first one was! While Spice Catering has really grown as a Cleveland area institution, it still has that same heart that really attracts clients and workers!
Working at Spice Catering has been the inspiration, blueprint and launching pad for my own small catering business, and to quote the most important Spice Catering core belief: “always learning” is something I incorporate in my business every day.
